Privacy Policy & Terms of Service for the SparkChat Nexus Chatroom and Chrome extension.

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 01 January 2026
Service: SparkChat Nexus Chatroom (web platform and Chrome browser extension)

This Privacy Policy explains how SparkChat Nexus Chatroom collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our web-based platform and our Chrome browser extension (together, the “Service”).

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you should not use the Service.

1. Overview of the Service and Chrome Extension

SparkChat Nexus is a web-based platform that provides a real-time public chatroom, a global user map, a marketplace that links to third-party payment providers, and access to embedded third-party games. The Chrome browser extension displays the official SparkChat Nexus website inside an embedded iframe within a popup. The extension itself does not implement any independent backend logic and does not independently collect or store data beyond what the embedded website already processes.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you use the Service, you may provide the following information:

  • Google Sign-In Information (Firebase Authentication)
When you sign in with Google, we receive information from Google such as:
    • Name and display name
    • Email address
    • Google account identifier
    • Profile photo URL (profile image)
  • Profile Information
To create and enhance your profile, we ask you to provide:
    • Date of birth (used to calculate age)
    • Gender
    • Country (e.g., country of residence)
We may compute and store your age based on your date of birth.
  • Chat Messages and User-Generated Content
When you participate in the real-time public chatroom, we collect the messages and content you post, including:
    • Text messages
    • User display name and profile photo associated with messages
    • Timestamps for when messages are sent
All messages are user-generated content that you choose to submit.
  • Location Sharing (Optional)
You may choose to share your approximate location on an interactive map (Leaflet). If you enable this feature, we collect:
    • Approximate latitude and longitude
    • Accuracy radius (as provided by the browser’s geolocation API)
    • Time of the location update
Location sharing is optional, user-controlled, and can be turned on or off at any time.
  • Support and Communications
If you contact us for support or feedback, we may collect any information you choose to provide in that communication, such as your email address and the contents of your message.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Service, certain technical information may be collected automatically, such as:

  • IP address and general location derived from the IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system and device type
  • Basic usage information (e.g., timestamps, pages or views accessed, error logs for diagnostics)

This information is used primarily for security, performance monitoring, and to improve the Service. Where applicable, this may be processed through Firebase and other infrastructure providers.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not intentionally collect or store the following information through the Service:

  • Web browsing history outside of SparkChat Nexus
  • Keystrokes or input from other websites or browser tabs
  • Cross-site tracking data unrelated to SparkChat Nexus
  • Credit card numbers, bank account numbers, or full payment card details

Payment processing is handled by third-party providers such as PayPal when you choose to purchase items linked from our marketplace (see Section 7). We do not receive or store your full payment information.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide and operate the Service
Including authentication, maintaining user sessions, rendering your profile, and enabling you to participate in the chatroom, map, and marketplace.
  • To show user profiles and community interactions
Your name, display name, age (derived from date of birth), gender, country, profile image, and stars or reputation indicators may be displayed to other users as part of the community experience.
  • To enable real-time chat and user-generated content
Your messages and related metadata are stored and displayed in the public chatroom and user lists.
  • To provide optional location features
If you enable location sharing, your approximate location is used to show your presence on the global map and indicate where users are connecting from.
  • To operate the marketplace
We display product information and may redirect you to external payment providers. We may log which items are clicked for analytics and troubleshooting.
  • To maintain security and prevent misuse
We may use logs and account data to detect abuse, spam, fraud, or violations of our Terms of Service.
  • To improve and personalize the Service
We may use aggregated and anonymized data to understand usage patterns, fix bugs, and improve performance.
  • To comply with legal obligations
We may process and retain data to comply with applicable laws, regulations, or valid legal processes.

5. User-Generated Content

The chatroom and other interactive areas of the Service allow users to submit text and other content. Such content is considered user-generated content.

  • You are solely responsible for the content you post or transmit through the Service.
  • We may store, display, and transmit your messages as part of the normal operation of the Service and as described in our Terms of Service.
  • While we implement moderation tools and community guidelines, we do not guarantee that all user-generated content will be actively screened or removed.
  • We reserve the right to remove content that violates our community guidelines or applicable law, and to suspend or terminate accounts in serious cases.

6. Location Data and User Consent

The Service includes an optional feature that allows you to share your approximate location on an interactive map powered by Leaflet. This feature is strictly opt-in.

  • We will request permission from your browser before accessing your location. If you deny permission, location sharing will not be enabled.
  • If you grant permission, we may receive your approximate latitude, longitude, and accuracy radius, and associate it with your user profile.
  • You can disable location sharing at any time from within the Service, and you can also revoke location permissions in your browser or device settings.
  • Location data is used to show your presence on the map to other users and may be stored in our real-time database as part of your presence information.
  • We do not use location data to track your movements outside of the Service, nor do we combine it with external web browsing history.

7. Use of Third-Party Services

7.1 Google and Firebase

The Service uses Google and Firebase services, including but not limited to:

  • Google Sign-In / Firebase Authentication (user login and identity)
  • Firebase Realtime Database (chat messages and presence)
  • Firestore (user profiles and account data)
  • Firebase Storage (media assets, if applicable)
  • Firebase Analytics or similar (usage analytics, where enabled)

These services may process your IP address, device information, and account data in order to provide authentication, data storage, and analytics. Their use is subject to Google’s and Firebase’s own privacy policies and terms.

7.2 Payment Providers (e.g., PayPal)

The marketplace section of the Service may link to third-party payment providers such as PayPal or other platforms for purchasing items or services. When you follow these links:

  • You are redirected to a third-party website or service that is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.
  • We do not collect or store your full payment card details or bank information.
  • We may receive limited information, such as confirmation that a transaction was completed, for record-keeping or support.

7.3 Embedded Third-Party Content (CrazyGames and Others)

The Service may embed third-party content, including games from providers such as CrazyGames. These embeds may collect data directly from your browser in accordance with their own privacy policies, which may include cookies, device identifiers, or usage information.

  • Your interaction with embedded third-party content is governed by the third party’s own terms and policies.
  • We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party providers.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. These measures may include:

  • Use of secure connections (HTTPS) where available
  • Access controls and authentication for administrative tools
  • Built-in Firebase security rules for database and storage access
  • Regular updates to software dependencies when feasible

However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you use the Service at your own risk.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods may differ depending on the type of information and the context in which it was collected.

Chat messages and public content may be stored for an extended period as part of the community history, unless removed for moderation or legal reasons.

10. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights with respect to your personal information. While the exact rights may vary, we aim to provide the following controls:

  • Access and update – You may view and update your profile information through your account where available.
  • Account deletion – You may request deletion of your account or use built-in account deletion features where provided. Deletion may not automatically remove all content you have posted (such as chat messages) that has been shared with other users, but we will generally dissociate your profile from such content where feasible.
  • Controls for location sharing – You can enable or disable location sharing in the Service and revoke browser location permissions at any time.
  • Blocking and content control – The Service includes tools to block or mute other users locally and to report problematic behavior to us where available.

If you have questions about exercising your rights, you can contact us as described in Section 14.

11. Children and Age-Related Disclosures

The Service is intended for a general audience and is not marketed as adult or mature content. However, certain features (such as public chat and community interactions) may not be appropriate for young children without supervision.

  • We recommend that only individuals who have reached the age of digital consent in their jurisdiction use the Service, or that they do so with parental or guardian permission.
  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law.
  • If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child contrary to applicable legal requirements, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information.

12. International Data Transfers

The Service may be accessed from around the world. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be processed and stored in countries that may have different data protection laws than your country of residence. We rely on providers such as Google and Firebase, which may store data in multiple regions.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” at the top of this Policy and may provide additional notice where required by law.

Your continued use of the Service after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy. If you do not agree with the changes, you should stop using the Service.

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service.

17. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of a neutral jurisdiction, specifically the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
